Riskee and the Ridicule are one of our must-see bands at Camden Rocks Festival on 31st May, and we are delighted to have them on The Punk Archive sponsored stage at The Good Mixer. We caught up with Scott from the band…
The Punk Archive: Introduce yourselves to our readers…
Scott: We are Riskee and the Ridicule, a 4 piece band from Kent.
The Punk Archive: Are you excited to be playing Camden Rocks?
Scott: Absolutely. We’re playing a few descent festivals this summer but we’re really looking forward to this one. We love playing Camden so combine that with a shit load of great bands and beer then we’re happy.
The Punk Archive: Your sound is a unique mish-mash of various genres. Where did that all stem from, and how do you manage to combine them all?
Scott: We didn’t try to combine styles or be anything in particular. I wrote a load of songs and everyone built around it. Nothing is regimented everyone just does what they want. Usually it works, and if it doesn’t we change it. It’s an amalgamation of different music tastes, backgrounds and genres. Jimbo’s into hardcore, Dave likes his hip-hop, Matt pop-punk I came from battle rapping, so it was always going to be a mixed up sound.
The Punk Archive: What can people expect from your live show?
Scott: Hooligans having a good time. And a good old fashioned pit
The Punk Archive: What does the rest of 2014 hold for you?
Scott: Our début album Dawn of the Dog will be released this summer. We’re also releasing a live accoustic album at some point and we’ve got a European tour with our pals Ghouls (check em out!) in August. Our plan for 2014 is to take our sound to the masses and shove it down their throats.
Riskee and the Ridicule play The Punk Archive stage at The Good Mixer, at 15:00, as well as an acoustic set at Camden Head at 13:30.
